What is WDChat?

WDChat is WDC next-generation, AI-powered assistant, purpose-built to transform how employees work. Originally developed to ensure the safe and secure use of AI at WDC, it is a powerful, user-focused platform that streamlines high-impact task – from drafting communications and summarizing documents, to coding, research, and data analysis – while always operating within WDC rigorous security and compliance standards.

WDChat leverages a dynamic network of advanced AI models (such as OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google Gemini) automatically choosing the best engine for every task or letting users select their preferred model. Seamlessly integrated into WDC tools like Team, WDChat delivers relevant, up-to-date intelligence across the enterprise.

Is my data private and secure when I use WDChat?

Yes. Your data is not sent outside of WDC or stored in unapproved third-party systems, including Azure OpenAI or Google. All information is managed within WDC secure environment, and integrations with external tools are tightly controlled to maintain security and compliance. However, WDC employees have a responsibility to avoid inputting restricted data or personal data into WDChat. While WDC IT has implemented PII Detection to screen for and remove some categories of PII from interactions, the best risk mitigation is abstaining from entering such information. Please be advised that PII detection does not monitor images that may capture PII and covers a limited set of text-based data considered PII.

Can WDChat help with WDC-specific questions?

Yes. When responding, WDChat will utilize information from WDC.com, IT and P&C knowledge articles from HelpZone, or SalesConnect (for users with existing SalesConnect access). You can find WDC-specific information about:

  • Information from IT like how to return a laptop
  • P&C topics such as leave and holidays
  • SalesConnect resources like pitch decks

Will my use of WDChat be monitored or tracked?

No, your use of WDChat is not monitored or tracked for HR or management purposes. Your interactions are private. Only aggregate, de-identified feedback may be reviewed to improve the tool. WDChat is designed to respect your privacy and not monitor individual activities. The focus is on providing secure, self-service access—not on tracking user behavior.
